Four Corners Economic Development (4CED) has worked tirelessly for years to support San Juan County’s economic growth, adapt to challenges, and capitalize on opportunities. Looking ahead to 2025, 4CED aims to build upon these accomplishments while continuing its mission to foster a thriving, diversified economy for the region.

In 2024, 4CED made significant strides in developing and nurturing a vibrant business ecosystem in San Juan County. One of the year’s most notable milestones was the triumphant announcement of Sasquatch Off-Road Trailers, a new company established with key partners, including the San Juan College Enterprise Center, the City of Farmington, and 4CED. This success exemplifies the region’s inherent potential for new businesses.

4CED also expanded its grant portfolio, securing $300,000 in state, federal, and private funding. This funding supports workforce development, industrial site evaluation, and marketing initiatives to strengthen regional economic resilience. Over 60 Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) visits were conducted, gathering critical feedback on the region’s challenges, including legislative, supply chain, hiring, and retention issues.

4CED’s outreach was amplified through various events, including attending the Chicago IMTS Trade Show in September 2024, which was a significant step in showcasing the opportunities within San Juan County to a broader audience and enhancing regional visibility. Other marketing efforts include hosting a quarterly breakfast meeting and sponsoring the Edge Awards Banquet. The organization also made significant strides in digital engagement, with over 1,500 bi-weekly newsletter subscribers, expanding its LinkedIn and Facebook presence and maintaining a website that actively promotes the county’s business climate.

Looking Ahead: 2025 Goals

To support San Juan County’s continued efforts to develop a diversified economy, 4CED’s focus for 2025 is clear: strengthening regional collaboration, expanding industrial recruitment, and increasing business retention efforts.

A key target for 2025 is the continued business attraction efforts, particularly through expanding industrial sites like the 200-acre industrial site in Farmington and a speculative building aimed at recruiting businesses. In 2024, 4CED received 17 Requests for Information (RFIs), six of which were rail-dependent, highlighting the need for infrastructure improvements to better position San Juan County as an attractive location for businesses reliant on logistics.

4CED’s partnership with regional stakeholders will remain vital in advancing economic alignment across multiple sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, energy, outdoor recreation, remote work, and healthcare. The organization will also work to deepen relationships with national site consultants and secure targeted grant funding for marketing efforts to spread the word that San Juan County is open for business.

A workforce study, supported by a grant from Arizona Public Service Company, is planned to provide valuable insights into the region's labor market and help match businesses with the skilled workforce they need. Regional marketing initiatives will be essential in boosting the region’s visibility and attracting new industries.

Primed for Success

4CED's 2024 achievements have laid a solid foundation for future growth, and the organization is poised to accelerate economic development in 2025. With its guiding principles of collaboration, transparency, and innovation, 4CED is committed to shaping a bright, growing economic future for San Juan County.
