New Mexico and San Juan County offer a variety of economic development financial and tax incentives for new, expanding or relocating businesses. Examples include:
Industrial Revenue Bonds (IRBs) provide for a certain degree of tax exemption/abatement on expansion and relocation of large commercial and industrial projects. San Juan County has approved IRB’s ranging in size from $15 to $70 million.
New Mexico businesses can use the Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funds to enter into Joint Powers Agreements to plan and support various regional economic development projects.
The Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) funds up to 6 months of training wages for newly-created jobs in expanding or relocating businesses.
