Tucked in the heart of northwestern New Mexico, San Juan County is a highlight of the Four Corners Region. Residents and businesses find an ideal environment to live, work and play, based on a wonderful climate, great people, advantageous cost of living, business-supportive government, abundant and varied outdoor activities and much, much more!
The area’s history is based on the confluence of three different cultures. From the height of the Ancestral Puebloan culture in 850 to 1200 A.D., to the migration of the Navajo people in 1500 to 1700 and Anglo expansion in the late 1870’s, people have come to the area for the advantages found in the valleys of the San Juan and Animas Rivers.
Today, over 120,000 people live in the Farmington Metropolitan Statistical Area, which incorporates all of San Juan County. However, thousands more come to the area for recreation, entertainment, culture and shopping.
So, if you are looking for a place to live, work, play or retire, San Juan County has something for everyone!
