The rewards are endless in San Juan County for those seeking an active lifestyle! The climate lends toward many recreational opportunities. The possible pursuits seem endless - from world-class fly fishing, numerous water sports, mountain biking and off-roading to golf and the scenic wonders of numerous National Parks and Monuments.

Almost 300 days of sunshine each year give outdoor lovers of all ages, from families, young adults and retirees, the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery and natural phenomenon seemingly in every direction.

Local community leaders have an eye on actively promoting and enhancing these opportunities. 4CED is a part of the Outdoor Recreation Industry Initiative (ORII), a partnership between local governments, visitor bureaus, San Juan College, the Bureau of Land Management and local industry groups to bolster the outdoor industry sector. ORII is designed to bring new industry to the area and build upon existing trails and other amenities to create an ongoing focus on the recreation opportunities present. In addition, the Farmington Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs (PRCA) Department is geared to enhance outdoor experiences through developing Lake Farmington, improving trails and providing better access to the rivers and open spaces.

Whether you are looking to slow down and embrace nature or to test your skills on a full-throttle adventure - you will find the perfect spot to do so in San Juan County!
